** Condoms: Wrong Perception

Sometime ago I listened to a very interesting advert (on condoms) on the radio.

In the advert, a certain woman is asking for something from a certain man with whom she works. (Let our woman be Jane and our man be John). Since John has things in his hands he asks Jane to take out what she is asking for from one of his pockets. She plunges one of her hands in his pocket and when it emerges, alas, there is a packet of condoms among the things removed from the pocket. Jane becomes very interested and asks when they can go to John’s house so that they can try out the condoms. John, happy that he’s found a sure lay, says that they’ll go after work.

If condoms are designed in such a way that when you see them you think of sex, then God knows where we are headed.

· Is this justifiable especially in this era of Aids?

· How many lives will be ‘lost’ in this way (either through death or moral decadence)?

· Some years ago we were preaching “use a condom to protect yourself from HIV/AIDS”. Are we going to change our tune and song and start preaching “If you have lost sexual interest, use a condom and you’ll regain it”?

These are the questions that should be in the heads of condom manufacturers as they sit in their boardrooms. Otherwise, they’ll be offering quack cures for old ills. And this is not what we need.

What do you think?

Siva we should be happy at least they use it and not go for worst thing like abortion ( which we discussed earlier, where raped women are exceptions ).

All i can say is Self-control ( which depends upon the person )

@Rachel : You should have told it to Ritch, not to me.. Because this is his post.. Fine da..

Ya you are right, atleast it will reduce the increase in number of AIDS cases. But how far it reaches into the correct hands Rachel...

See you just think about Pre-Marital sex, how far it will affect others life... Hmmmm... Am i right?

This is my answer... I want Ritch to answer your question, let us see what he tells....

sex i believe is for married people. for single men and women, it's not for you to enjoy cause sex is sacred. it's not for pure leisure.

Hi Rachel,
The issue here is that the condom adverts are sometimes so misleading that one would think that they are actually promoting the spread of "diseases" that they are trying to protect us from. they should at least give us the two sides of the story. I agree with you that people should also practise self control. But how many of us would boast of SELF CONTROL as one of their long suits?

weird advertisement!
I am speechless....
To men AND women:
Even if you have no control of yourself.. at least wear it... hahahaha!

Ha ha.. If that was true then everyone will start keeping condoms in pockets. Casual sex is increasing day by day. Nothing stopping it. ipills became more famous than ipod. When you have sex beofre marriage that means you cannot control your feelings. And that means you'll have hard time after marriage.

My opinion is that condoms encourage careless sex. People tell themselves that they can do anything so long as they have the "guard" that will protect them from any eventuality.

Love and sex, that is not necessarily the same thing. And birth control/protection against aids that is again another subject, I believe (I've been married for the last 17 years and have kids).

This morning I read an article in the paper. It explained how a social worker asked help from advertisement people to make some people in an African country understand that they need to wash their hands with SOAP several times a day (because a lot of infections and children's deaths could be avoided that way). Classical well meaning approaches didn't help. The ad people designed a campaign telling not about soap, but trying to convey the idea that going to the toilet is yucky. That worked better.

That is the way ad works ; manipulating your emotions. So, from this very weird ad you quote, I understand that the idea here is simply "no sex without condoms", "don't even think about sex without condoms".

After all, people say one thing and they do another... that's why even in married couples you can catch aids...

Hello Ritch

I do get what your trying to say. I think this careless sex is happening for years but increased a lot in recent years. Who can we blame Ritch? you, me, Siva or people who had commented here.

Nowadays people lack moral values in life.

@Priya : Self control.. Nah nah not possible particularly in case of Sex, where more self control is needed....

@Dong : It's not for pure leisure... You are right.... But these people wont realize it and at the same time no use... Because now a days Sex become a pure entertaining one...

@Linkin : What about you da?

@Guttu : iPills become more popular than iPod.. Hahahaha.. Funny lines...

@Ritch : Yes sir you are right.... Its the bad thing now spreading every where.. Now no one(not all) is showing the hesitancy to have Sex without a proper relation... Because they have guard...

@Helene : Ya you are correct only.. But as compared to unsafe Sex, Sex with condoms is really safe.. What to do? We have to accept it...

@Rachel : Now a days people lack moral values ha? According to me, real people itself lacking here.. Many are changed into animals...

What a bullshit post. This is the sort of narrow minded thinking found in Indian society. What's wrong with casual sex when condoms are being used? Who are you to lecture other people about morality?

Stanley said...

People should know that condoms do not work against aids! AIDs virus are small enough to pass through condoms. What I really don't agree is putting your whole future on that piece of rubber =) Really pathetic if you think about it.

Hhhahaha....but if the person too horny, I'll say go ahead but just keep in mind the consequences.

Lolz, and to answer the question I think YES, people tend to take sexeven more lightly now that condoms are available.

Marc, my friend. Let us be civil and sober minded when blogging. Using words such as bullshit does not augur well here. You said: What a bullshit post. You know the truth hurts. We are here to serve humanity and thus the truth has to be told. Immorality is a no-brainer. Take it from me. You get nothing concrete from it apart from loads and loads of problems.
In this world, we need some sober guys to lead (and shine the light in the right road)the ones who are up to their necks in the miry bog of indecency, immorality and other such dark things. Just toe the line and you'll lead a life with very few (or even no) regrets. What thinkest thou, Marc?

I think that you'll fit well into Indian society.

Mark and Ritch, come on!
Take it easy :-)
"A bullshit post"?... Maybe...
When I don't like the subject, I just pass...
Whoever is right, we are not supposed to use slang or insult to make our point.
So, get relax, enjoy other blogs or whatever...
Anyway, I noticed that the post was signed "Selerines group"... whoah...
:-)

Bull shit is supposed to be good for cultures, especially tomatoes says my mum :o)

I'm very tired at the moment, Selerines, however obviously I support the use of condoms. What else ? Coffee...

I find your post stupid!! People use condoms when they want to. There are people who use Condoms most of the times. Its just a natural feeling to have sex, when they have condoms with their mate, you can't expect them, to say like " hey is that condoms you are having in your hand?? then lets go to a hotel and have Dosa "

Anonymous said...

I saw an article today in the Hindu saying that a complaint had been filed against condoms company in Chennai. Is this correct, is this in relation with the add you were talking about Selerines ?

Selerines said...

@Linkin : No experience ha? In order to gain experience only we are advised to use condoms.. LOL!!!!

@Marc & Ritch : Leave the arguments my friends.... I apologies to Ritch sir for this... Different people, different thinking so nothing is wrong in sharing their views. But using of rash words against bloggers should be avoided....

@Stanley : Why should we go some where? Live with one and enjoy the life.. Thats it....

@Franck : I made a change just for a change...

@Gowtham : Bad joke... Get the thing from the post first.. This is not posted by me, its posted by Ritch... So think and comment... Good Ja!!! Different views so no questions....

@Helene : This is not posted by me my friend....
