India : Is it the garbage for west?

In recent years, one critical problem is continuously giving the headache India. It’s none other than "The garbage dumping in India by West". Now days these types of things are increased so much. The west is not only using India, but they are also using other countries namely Pakistan, Bangladesh and so on as their dumping ground to dump the waste from their countries. These wastes are very harmful to human beings. But without caring about those things some countries from west are involved in these types of careless matters. No one is taking responsibility for this.

If they are doing like this means, I don’t know how dare the respective officials from here are allowing these things to enter into our country. Why they are not caring about others? So the countries from west are just wants to keep their countries clean and neat. They won’t care about other countries welfare, right? Our country should take some strict actions to avoid these types of incidents in future and should try to protect the public from it.

What you people think about this?

Do you have any facts and figures about it?
Besides, under which conditions Indian government authorized it and why?

It seems that it takes a lot of time for TimesNow... Almost 3 years...
Seems also that the only one "guilty" is "Western".
There were no investigation against the Indian company, the importer?
He should share the responsability, no?
Anyway, this article does not prove or bring any evidence that Western countries are flooding India with their waste...
890 metric tons represent roughly the waste produced in one year by less than 2,500 people.
It doesn't excuse this criminal fact but still, put it in perspective...

@Franck : Read my post fully. I am blaming both the Indian officials, as well as the foreign officials. Both the people are not caring about this issue. That's what i said in my post "No one is taking responsibility for this". What statistics and figures you need to explain this problem my friend? We people are directly watching these type of things in front of us. What else you need? I am not ready to comment for your question about TimesNow work. In the previous years like 2005 & 2007, we already heard these type of news. Those people are not only using India as their place to dump the garbage. Even the countries like China, Pakistan, Bangladesh are included in this list.

Anyway, this article does not prove or bring any evidence that Western countries are flooding India with their waste...

What proof you need? That's what i said we are directly seeing all these things. If you want the complete proof means, then go and visit "Tuticorin Port". After that you will get the answer for your question.

Here i am not trying to support any one. The following people all are responsible for this,

1.) Local company who imported his to India?

2.) Foreign officials.

3.) Indian officials and so on...

Here after all should have keep an eye on this!!!

Good evening Shiva :-)
I know that you blamed both sides, and you was very clear in your post.

And of course, like any normal human being, I am against this kind of dumping, wherever it is happening (I think you know that "wild dumping" occur everywhere in the world, including western countries).

My point was not that and of course not to be against you.

Maybe I misunderstood the article, but what I read looks to only refer to one case which is lasting since 3 years.
One and only one case...

So when I was asking for facts and figures, I wanted to know if this kind of illegal stuff is happening on a regular basis or not.
That's all :-) even though I am sure much more cases should be found.

Anyway, you mentioned in a previous post the corruption problem.
I won't be surprised to learn from you that there are many "wild dumping" in India...

That is one more consequence people have to suffer from, because corrupted people.

Before I sold it, I was the founder and Chairman of a waste treatment company (environmental friendly). So I know a "little" about the behavior of a lot of people involved in this field.
It is a billion USD market!

The only one way, is to clean the political system.

I think you know it.

@Franck : What you are telling friend? Clean the political System ha? Hahahaha no way friend.... It's better that we will clean those garbages, rather than cleaning the political system.... Nothing will change here... Refer into my Bribe post. I clearly stated there that "From small small sectors to big departments this bribe is playing a major role". So it's hard to change at the same time it will never change....

Anybody knows when the space elevator project is going to be complete? Space is a good option to jettison rubbish. They can make good target practice for future space military fighters too.

I am not naive about politics.
So, it is very simple: no clean political system, no clean environment!
For this problem, you cannot just count and deal at the people level...
For now, I don't see any solution except the long term one I mentioned before.

I think the 1st and 2nd world countries would always find means to take advantage the underdeveloped countries or willing countries for that matter. In the Phil, the locals are part of the garbage problem. What a crazy world. So what should we do about it? People must really be reactive and proactive with garbage issues for it to stop.

i don't really know all the details about the international agreement regarding this problem, so i couldn't really give a good factual input...

but i just want you to know that i do understand how you feel about this situation... it is sad, but maybe what we can do in our level is to make people aware of the harmful effects on health of irresponsible treatment of waste... and from there, move on to the next level...

I feel your pain. Canada has been dumping their garbage in Michigan for years and it's sickening. We are the land of the Great Lakes, millions of people get their water supply from us. Canada is always bragging about how beautiful their country is, but they are bringing their garbage here. I wonder how pretty it would be if they had to take care of their own crap! Not only that, but we have to deal with people driving their nuclear waste through our state as well.

Now, my question is, what countries are dumping their waste in India? Is it the U.S.? To be honest, it wouldn't surprise me. However, it is up to your own countries officials to protect your land, and so it is also in the hands of your people. Good luck with it though. :)

Coincidently but not surprisingly months ago our newspaper's Tech section ran the story about the worrying state of 'rubbish dumping' in India by the developed countries. It could easily be the reason that it is much more expensive for big companies to dispose their rubbish in a way that is environmentally safe than transporting it to other countries[India, for example] for dumping. Plus they just need to ship their rubbish to the designated place in India[for example] and that is the end of their part. Truth is if they would have cared more and do their part and not be money-greedy this problem won't be at a worrying state. Everyone wants to make a quick buck including India's top official for agreeing for their countries to accept wastes from big companies.

Hello, I am from France and I support Greenpeace. When France decided to have their dirty old ship dismantled in India, Greenpeace took action to prevent it.

That ship was full of dangerous chemicals that shouldn't be handled without safety equipment.

And so what do we hear ? We shouldn't do this, because India needs the work and money. I think finally it was sent back to India, and the workers were given some light equipment.

I tell you something else ; France is taking care of all European nuclear waste.

The whole planet is a dustbin.

You didn't mention what has been dumped and for this we cant go to Tuticorin port and see, and i won't trust you until you come up with a proper explanation with it. Or you are just posting for the sake of it??? Is it???

And i don't think no govt will allow other countries to dump on their own lands. I don't trust. Can you show any news article proof,Cos if this thing you are telling is true means, it should be know to the press and other media.
