India : Are foreigners safe??????

Now days, molestation activities against the foreign people are increasing day by day in India. For ex. Goa murder case. So many foreigners are visiting our country each and every year to see many interesting places and cool spots in our country. But because of some people, they get molested and suffering a lot in India. I don’t know how much security level is given to these people in our country. If these activities continued in our country then it will surely affect our country name through worldwide and in turn it will affect the Indian tourism. So Indian govt. should try to get a solution for this major problem as soon as possible. At the same time foreigners should be aware of these kinds of things in India before reaching here.

Hi Selerines! In France, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs publishes on its Web site one bulletin of safety on all the countries of the world. India is rather well noted as a whole. http://www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/fr/conseils-aux-voyageurs_909/pays_12191/inde_12259/index.html
Except the states of the Jammu-Cashmere and Ladakh, the French government does not advise against going to India. However there is a specific recommendation for the women. Those of should not only walk and must avoid provocative clothing… An increase in the rapes of foreign women was noted.

@Selerines
We itself don't have any security, then how can you expect for people from other countries.

Anonymous said...

@siva
i go with visu and rachel...

Because we dont have proper security in our country... Lack of security only our jaipur people died in the bomb blast last week... First we have to protect ourselves, then we try to protect others.. but i go with u in one point, that is our country name will spoil when we not give security to foreigners...

I somehow believed that the fault probably lies on the local authority. Surely if they were to have few policemen patrolling or setting up bases at tourist's hot spots; I see that this shouldn't be much of a problem. Maybe not 100% safe but still it'll be a significant difference.

I think it is like that in most countries but I do know that people are being particularly hostile towards Americans across the Atlantic. I know it has a lot to do with the war in Iraq and I think that we, in general, ignorant to the many formalities that most cultures possess. For example, I was not raised to greet people when I pass them or to greet my elders. My husband was. I had to learn to do this to be respectful to his family. This is a great point you are making though.

Hi, Selerines

How are you?

I just wanted your opinion. Are you fond of traveling in India by train? I read that train travel requires ticket booking months in advance.

My travel itinerary is New Delhi, Agra, & Goa. I thought that you may have some travel by train experience to the above mentioned destinations.

Otherwise please do not trouble yourself for the information. :-) Thanks.

Selerines said...

@Nika : Ya cultural differences between countries is the main problem....

Selerines said...

@Vinod : These kind of things are not happening every where.. Very few places are like that... What to do its because of some stupids?? Even police is supporting these type of things in our country.... So its hard to get rid of these matters in our country... One more thing why the people who should work for the welfare of people are encouraging these type of things.. Why they are not caring about our country???

Selerines, wow your blog is impressive. And the topics touch on real issues - not just in India but globally.

Clearly you have a special quality in you that is lacking in many of today's leaders.

Keep doing what you do. You have a great future ahead of you!

This is really too bad. I know that India has become a place where a lot of Americans are retiring as it is a beautiful place and affordable for someone to retire to. I hope India addresses this problem soon.

Shaynee said...

That's really sad. Knowing people do stuffs like that making foreign people scared of such a beautiful place. India is in my "to visit list" someday. Hope it'll be safe that time. :) Yep. Sure Let's do x links :)
